These Terms govern your use of pennshades.com (the “Site”) operated by Penn Shades (“we,” “us,” or “our”). By using the Site or submitting a consultation request, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Site.
About the site
The Site is informational and lead-generation only. It describes our window treatment, smart film, and installation services and lets you request a free in-home consultation. The Site itself is not a place to buy or order products — actual purchases happen after a consultation, on a written quote you sign.
Consultation requests & quotes
Submitting the consultation request form does not create a contract. We will contact you to schedule a visit, take measurements, and provide a written quote. A contract only exists once you accept a written, itemized quote in writing (signed or via written confirmation, including email).
Quotes are valid for 30 days from the date issued unless otherwise stated. Material and labor prices can change after that period.
Service area
We provide in-home and on-site consultations across the greater Pittsburgh area, including Pittsburgh, Moon Township, Sewickley, Cranberry Township, Wexford, Mt. Lebanon, Upper St. Clair, Bethel Park, Fox Chapel, and surrounding western Pennsylvania communities. Consultations outside our standard area may be available with additional travel consideration — contact us for details.
Workmanship warranty
Our standard lifetime workmanship warranty covers installation defects in projects we personally measured, ordered, and installed. The warranty covers our installation work for the life of the product as installed, including:
- Brackets, mounts, hardware, and rails we installed
- Motor wiring and pairing we performed
- Frame alignment, square-mounting, and panel fit on shutters and blinds
The workmanship warranty does not cover:
- Manufacturer defects in fabric, motors, hardware, or other materials — those are covered by the manufacturer’s warranty, which we help you claim
- Damage from misuse, accidents, pets, normal wear, or fading from sun exposure
- Products you bought elsewhere unless they were installed by Penn Shades and the issue is install-related
- Modifications made after our install by you or a third party

Content & ownership
All content on this Site — including text, photographs, design, logos, the “Penn Shades” name, and the “Designed by you, made by us” tagline — is owned by Penn Shades and protected by copyright and trademark law. You may not reproduce, copy, distribute, or use our content for commercial purposes without written permission.
Photographs of installations posted in our Gallery are either our own or used with the property owner’s permission.
Accuracy of information
We work to keep product descriptions, pricing context, timelines, and service-area information accurate, but we don’t guarantee the Site is error-free. Actual product specifications, pricing, and availability are confirmed on your written quote, not on the Site.
No professional advice
Information on this Site about insulation, energy efficiency, sun damage, smart-home integration, and similar topics is general guidance based on industry experience. It is not professional engineering, architectural, electrical, or building-code advice. For decisions requiring those, consult a licensed professional in that discipline.
Third-party links and forms
Our consultation form is provided by an embedded third-party service (Clignite). Your interaction with that embedded form is subject to Clignite’s terms and privacy practices, but information you submit through it flows directly to us. We are not responsible for the practices of other third-party websites linked from our Site.
Disclaimer of warranties (site usage)
The Site is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We make no warranties about the availability, accuracy, or reliability of the Site itself. (This disclaimer applies to the Site — not to our installation workmanship, which is covered separately above.)
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by Pennsylvania law, Penn Shades shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the Site, including but not limited to loss of profits or data. Our total liability for any claim arising out of your use of the Site is limited to $100. This limitation does not apply to liability arising from our installation workmanship under an executed installation contract — that liability is governed by the installation contract and the workmanship warranty.
Governing law & venue
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, without regard to its conflict of laws principles. Any dispute arising out of or related to these Terms or the Site shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, and you consent to that jurisdiction.
Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We’ll change the “Last updated” date when we do. Continued use of the Site after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
